Home IP Service
Information Services and Technology (IST) offers two types of Home IP services.
SHIPS Internet and
Low Cost Modem.
Internet access for both services are provided through a shared modem service to allows UC Berkeley faculty, staff and student to access the campus network services from their computers over standard telephone lines using high speed modems. Please remember that long distance charges may apply.

How do I sign up?
Sign up or reinstate for SHIPS or Low Cost Modems and you will be directed to a *secure page where you will have the opportunity of creating your login name, password, type of service and billing method.
Current low cost modem users can also upgrade to SHIPS.

How do I maintain my existing account?
Maintaining your SHIPS or Low Cost Modems includes changing your subscription type, viewing your account details, viewing your account name and/or changing your dial-up password. You will need your CalNetID and passphrase to access your account information.
How do I cancel?
To cancel your SHIPS or Low Cost Modems account, you will be directed to an HomeIP account management menu after you login using your CalNetID and passphrase. Please select option "Acccount Disabled" to disabled or cancel your account. Upon completion, please send email to rts@berkeley.edu to cancel your billing.

If you are experiencing problems logging on using your SHIPS or Low Cost service, your account may have been suspended due to non-payment.
